Rory Begs for Votes: Promotion or Pathetic?

by

RoryRory Schepisi from The Next Food Network Star made some comments about her co-contestants while on the Ron and Fez Show, which airs on XM Radio. Her comments basically stated that she thought Amy would be easier to beat, but JAG would be harder thanks to his ethnic backing. You can find more about last week’s show in my The Next Food Network Star recap.

This morning, I came online to check for comments and to write some articles. In the midst of my research, I came across a pingback from a new site. I went over to check out the site and to see what they had to say about The Next Food Network Star. At the end of the post they had a list of blogs that are blogging about the show. Being nosy, I decided to check those blogs out, too.

When I went hunting, I ended up finding a comment from Rory on Route 66 News. The comment was asking (or begging) people to vote for her because she needs help to win this. While that may be true, I cannot help but think it’s a little cheap to beg for votes. We’ve all seen the show and most of us have our favorites, so is it necessary to remind us to vote, or to request that we vote for you?

Come to find out, from the page that Rory commented on, this is not her first stint as a Reality TV star. She was also on CMT’s Popularity Contest. I remember Rory explaining how she packed up her bags all of a sudden to move to this small town in the middle of nowhere. This is part of the premise of the show she was on. However, apparently when she lost, she decided to move there anyway and open a restaurant. So, now on her second show, she is hoping to receive more support then she did on the first show.

Come to find out, the person that did win, doesn’t live in Vega where the contest took place. He took his $50,000 grand prize and visits from time to time, but it is Rory who decided to move there despite not winning. She claims that people have told her that they wished they had voted for her. Unfortunately for her, they chose to go with Alex. On the bright side (for her more than me), her losing brought her to the Food Network competition.

Will she win? Well she certainly feels the need to beg for votes, so I am not sure that’s a great sign. I have cast my vote and intend to do so daily until it is not possible anymore. Of course, in the end, for me I cast my vote with a bit of sadness as I don’t feel either will put out a show that has the quality and entertainment that is expected in a Food Network show.

If you want to vote for either of the potential stars, you can do so once a day on the Internet by visiting The Next Food Network Star.

  3. Dominick Says:

Pathetic…especially since she seems to do it to take the focus off her abnormally large gums/teeth.

Everyone used to cherish her records, it’s a terrible shame that her talent has been hidden since then.
