My Food Network Top Five

by Ashtyn Evans

The title here is pretty self-explanatory. I am going to list the top chefs that have shows on the network and let you know why I like them. Feel free to let me know who your favorites are and why you like them, too!

Emeril

Show(s): Emeril Live, Essence of Emeril

Reason I Like Them: Emeril is Food Network. By that I mean that he is everything that one would think the Food Network is going for when they make their shows. He makes amazing food that is accessible to the home cook. Emeril is the type of Chef that makes you want to cook. I love that I can point his recipes out just by the names of them. You can tell what an Emeril recipe would be because just the sound makes your mouth water. He’s also completely entertaining and fun to watch. He makes food cool, which is amazing.

Paula Deen

Show(s): Paula’s Home Cooking, Paula’s Party

Reason I Like Them: Paula is incredibly fun and alive. She’s a pleasure to watch because she seems so comfortable in the kitchen and it’s obvious that she loves food. It makes you want to have fun in the kitchen, too. She also seems very down to earth and approachable. You could see yourself having some good Southern food with her.

Rachael Ray

Show(s): 30 Minute Meals, Tasty Travels, $40 a Day

Reason I Like Them: Rachael teaches the busy home cook that they actually have time to cook. When you see what she can whip up in 30 minutes it really makes fast food or processed food seem unappealing. She’s also fun, entertaining, and has a bold personality. She encourages people to cook and her food is not only easy to relate to for a home cook, but it also is easy enough to make for a beginner.

Bobby Flay

Show(s): Boy Meets Grill, BBQ with Bobby Flay, Iron Chef America, Throwdown, Food Nation

Reason I Like Them: Bobby is amazing with a grill. He does things on a grill that most wouldn’t think possible and he’s able to show others how to do it, as well. He’s hosted a diverse range of shows so you get to see various sides of him. He’s also very personable and he seems to be down to earth. I would find it hard to imagine Food Network without Bobby Flay.

Ina Garten

Show(s): Barefoot Contessa

Reason I Like Them: Ina is the perfect entertainer and she’s seems so comfortable. She’s very calming. Her show is great to watch because you not only learn something, but you get the feeling that you get to know her. You also get to meet her friends and family, which is an added touch into her world. Her food always looks fabulous and she makes it look easy to make, which is great incentive for the people that watch the network and think that they can’t cook.

Honorable Mention:

Giada

Show(s): Everyday Italian, Giada’s Weekend Getaways

Reason I Like Them: Who doesn’t like Italian food? Giada makes food that tastes as mouthwatering as it looks. She shows that simplicity can be elegant at the same time. She loves food and has a zest for life that is contagious. Her shows are perfect for lovers of Italian food and chocolate, but she’s also beginning to do more traditional dishes that have Italian spins, which have been interesting to see and try.
