Don’t Fault Rory! – Reality was the Only Way In
Le Food News recently posted an article on the Next Food Network Star and apparently Rory Schepisi. While I didn’t have a chance to read the article I did find her response to it on their site. If you’d like to read it you can find it at: Food Network Contest Tells Her Side of the Story.
Rory has defended herself on numerous blogs. On Literary Illusions, she appeared in a comment of an article I wrote before the series had ended. She continually claims to tell people they don’t understand reality television and insists that the television editors gave her a bad rap. However, what I think she fails to understand is that the producers and editors cannot edit a bad attitude that never happened. If there were no mistakes or poor representations of her to be shown they wouldn’t be able to show them in the first place. Perhaps they just chose to show us the side of her that was the most appealing. Unfortunately it was not the most likable.
It also shows a lack of appreciation for Food TV, in my opinion. I mean, they were nice enough to put her on television in the first place and now she’s going to go and complain that they made her look bad? These complaints are undoubtedly because she didn’t win.
I don’t think it had as much to do with the poor representation of her as it did her panhandling for votes. Buying ads online and emailing people repeatedly shows a lack of belief in oneself and it is an unfair tactic.
The best person for the show or at least the best person left standing, of the two, won in my opinion. Why continue to sully your reputation by showing you are a sore loser? First, Adrian comes out with comments that he cannot believe Amy won and now Rory whines that Food Network made her look bad. Logically, these people had to know that they might go home. So, why act like a poor sport? Schepisi is building a restaurant and has been building one since the show was airing. My thoughts are if you love food as much as you say you do, be content in your restaurant.
I have a few words of advice for Rory. America spoke and they didn’t want you. If you show up on Hell’s Kitchen next season, I swear I will break my television. Oh, and Chef Ramsey? JUST SAY NO!

I have to admit- I was biased against Rory because of the first episode (bad first impression). She did soooo bad and I was angry that Patrick went home instead of her (maybe they were trying to send home one of each sex)So each week I tuned in assuming that she was going home… and each week I was floored that she stayed on. She only won the Bon App competition and Amy won time and again and they still had Amy go home. I tell you, I don’t understand it. However, I would love to hear what the judges think about America choosing the person that they eliminated. They have to feel like they made a huge mistake! I was pulling for JAG and from the looks of the comments on the Myspace page, he would have won over Amy or Rory. I wish Rory the best, but she’s just not what America wanted right now.

Jenna,
That Texas Sunset (I think that’s what she called it) cake was awful! I know when I watched it I wondered how she even got on. I mean, I understand that a lot of the best chefs cannot bake, but I’d rather have seen someone downplay things a little and come out with something simple, but worthwhile as opposed to going all out and making a disaster. There’s no way I would have even stood by that cake.
I didn’t like her and it’s no big secret. I am not sure what the network thinks of her but from all I have seen not many people did like her. Hopefully, American won’t ever be ready for her, because having her on two reality shows was enough for me!
