Dominick Evans’ Top Five Chefs who can Cook for Me from Food Network
This is a guest post by Dominick Evans.
I decided to write two posts on Ashtyn’s Food Network Blog. This one is based on who can cook as opposed to who is hot. I’m sure you will find this list a bit different because I am actually including all chefs on the Network, not just the women! Essentially, these are the people I would let cook for me based on their skill and what they like to make.
So, without further ado, here is my top five chefs list. Let me know if you agree or disagree by making your own list in the comment section of this blog post.
5. Emeril
I think Emeril is an amazing chef. I would have placed him higher except for one little thing. Emeril likes to cook exotic food, a lot of which is fish. I am not overly fond of fish or fois gras or anything I can barely pronounce. That is the only downside to Emeril’s cooking. However, when he’s making steak, potatoes, and that famous Emeril cheesecake, he’s welcome to send me some any time.
4. Rachael Ray
I always manage to catch Rachael on 30 Minute Meals making something I want Ash to replicate. She cooks food that is simple, accessible, and looks so good I often get hunger pains after watching the show. She really likes Italian food and also likes food that is spicy. I love both and therefore, most of her food is both appealing and something I’d eat on a regular basis if I could. This alone has earned Rachael the #4 spot on my list of chefs.
3. Ina Garten
Ina makes elegant look easy. Her food looks really good and she inspires me to try new foods that I might not have eaten previously. Ina is a no nonsense cook. She isn’t calorie counting. She isn’t telling me how fattening her food is and how fat I’m going to get from eating it. She cooks it to taste good and let me tell you…it does!
2. Giada De Laurentis
Growing up, I thought I hated Italian Food. I learned (after moving in with Ms. Gourmet Chef Ashtyn) that it was the way my family cooked pasta that made me afraid to try Spaghetti or any other form of Italian food. Now that I’m an adult I absolutely love Italian food. Lasagna, Spaghetti, Fettuccine, Ziti, anything Parmesan, and practically any other Italian dish, I’m bound to want to at least try! Giada makes Italian look sexy and her dishes have become amongst my favorites that Ash has made. Thanks Giada (and Ashtyn) for making me a lover of Italian.
1. Paula Deen
There is only one type of food I love more than Italian. That is down home cookin’. I know this kind is most likely to give me a heart attack, but I can’t help myself. Bring on the ribs, greens, steak and shrimp, fried chicken, and potatoes made in eight million different ways. Oh and we cannot forget dessert…especially the pie. Paula, thanks for being my hero. Feel free to come over and cook for me anytime

Are you insane? Rachael Ray? Have you ever actually eaten any of the slop she makes? I tried one of her recipes years ago, it made my husband sick using so much EVOO and onions. If you read the ingredient lists carefully, and figure out the fat/carbs/calories, you’d realize there’s no way her foods are “healthy”. Most of them look like something my dog coughed up.
