Breakfast Done the Right Way with Formaggio
I first learned about Formaggio Kitchen because they were featured on Food Network. They are based out of Cambridge, Massachusetts where they specialize in offering gourmet foods from around the world at some of the most reasonable prices that I have ever seen, especially online. I knew from the minute I checked their website that I wanted to work with them. Everything looks so amazing I figured if they let me sample any item in their store I would be happy.
Tim, one of the great people at Formaggio got back to me and we went over some possibilities. I will be doing some future reviews, but for now we started with some breakfast foods. Tim had suggested various items including organic maple syrup, buckwheat pancake mix, and fresh bacon. I thought it would be a nice idea to add everything together and create a breakfast feast and that is exactly what I did.
The breakfast started with Grateful Ed’s Roasted Buckwheat Pancake Mix. Grateful Ed’s is based out of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. In the package, this pancake mix appears to be like any other mix you might find in a grocery store. I wasn’t sure if I would like these pancakes in the beginning. I was curious, but I wasn’t sure about the idea of the roasted buckwheat mix. Add that into the fact that I am admittedly not a huge pancake fan and I was skeptical. Before I get into my thoughts, I will move on and let you know about the organic maple syrup that was the topping for these pancakes.
The syrup was Krueger-Norton Organic Maple Syrup. The packaging for this syrup was adorable as it comes in reusable mason jars. The syrup is made on a sustainable farm in Shrewsbury Vermont by Art Krueger and Trish Norton.
The end to this breakfast came in the form of fresh bacon. The pancakes were set up and the bacon was placed on the side. Once everything was all plated up it was time to eat.
The pancakes were absolutely fabulous. Despite not being a pancake eater I loved the texture and the overall taste. There was a nutty flavor that doesn’t exist with your average pancake and it really brought out the power of the pancake body. Meanwhile, I found the syrup to be in perfect compliment. It was not too sweet and it had a full bodied flavor.
Dominick, who cannot stand pancakes, took a few bites and found them to be worth trying again. Robert, who likes traditional pancakes, ate two plates full for a total of six pancakes. So, the pancakes and syrup were certainly a hit in the Evans house.
The bacon, which is a Formaggio Kitchen exclusive product that is made by Tom Smith, was absolutely amazing. I can honestly say this was the best bacon I have ever had. In fact, I dread going back to the old stuff. One of the best things about this bacon is that it doesn’t get greasy like most bacon does. It ends up being perfectly crisp and delicious. Everyone loved it especially Dominick, who kept trying to steal my pieces. Again, he isn’t a huge breakfast foods fan so this meant the bacon had to be delicious.
If you are a lover of pancakes and bacon you seriously need to give these products a try. Formaggio Kitchen stocks the best ingredients from around the world and they arrive in perfect condition. Of course, as I mentioned before, they taste better than anything you could imagine.
Formaggio Kitchen receives an A+ in our book. Try them out and let me know how they rate for you!
